My favorite film of the year was “My Week With Marilyn” since it reflects so well what I have been doing for 40 years – take care of film “celebrities,” both local and national. Once Nicholas Ray, director of “Rebel Without a Cause,” came to Minneapolis for a weekend and stayed a month with me having to drive him around 24/7. Here are some other films I really enjoyed….
1.My Week with Marilyn
2. Hugo – great film by Martin Scorsese about a young boy.
3. War Horse – I have the ultimate sympathy for animals who have been sacrificed by humans, like in wars and coal mines.
4. We Bought a Zoo – touching story about family loss.
5. The Ides of March – best political film in a long time.
6. The Help – very well done adaptation of the instant classic novel.
7. Drive – great action film with Ryan Gosling who also did very well in “Idees.”
8. The Last Mountain – indeed, the most polished film on MTR to date.
9. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – great acting, visuals, and story.
10. Crazy, Stupid, Love – Ryan Gosling again…
