“White Lightnin’,” a Brit fictionalized version of Dancing Outlaw Jesco White’s life, is finally coming to US screens and TVs. Screen Daily announced that US rights have been acquired and that the film will be shown in US movie theaters and as a video-on-demand. It is one of two new Jesco films.
I have been writing about the film for quite a while, posting Jacob Young’s own story about attending the world premiere at Sunday last January. He worked on the film a bit.According to the press release, it has won several awards and certainly gets reactions from people when they see it. I wonder how much cash will flow to Jesco, who recently lost his wife? People wondered about that with the success of Jacob Young’s two films on Jesco, “Dancing Outlaw” and “Dancing Outlaw Goes to Hollywood,” both available at www.dancingoutlaw.com along with other great films by Jacob Young.

I saw this last night in Seattle – while it’s an amazing movie, I suspect (HOPE) it’s very loosely based on Jesco’s life story. There is a great deal of gore and surreal scenes of Jesco’s early life.
I have to wonder what his reaction will be if and when he sees it!
