Jesco White will never die….and thanks to at least two new films including “The Wild and Wonderful Whites,” he will never be forgotten. ( The other is the new Brit docudrama called “White Lightnin” which I have written about several times earlier.) The first of four screenings at the festival will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 9:30 PM, AMC Village VII Cinemas.

My google news alert for “West Virginia film” found two stories today – one from the local WV news service MetroNews and the other from the website for the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. The online version of Columbia U.’s Spectator even calls the new Jesco film “among the most interesting films” to be shown at their local film fest. I look forward to seeing both of the new films.

You can still buy DVD copies of the two original films by Jacob Young about Jesco – “Dancing Outlaw” and “Dancing Outlaw Goes to Hollywood” from the official site – www.dancingoutlaw.com. Funds spent on these two films will go to the original filmmaker, Jacob Young, who attended the world premiere of the Brit film, “White Lightnin” in January 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival. (Read Jacob’s own account of his trip to Sundance.)

[...] The WV Filmmakers Festival and hopefully the WV International Film Festival both want to present the two new films based on the life of Boone County’s most famous citizen, Jesco White, known as “The Dancing Outlaw.” Thousands attended Jesco White Night at Charleston’s Power Park last week, some receiving free Jesco bobble heads. On almost a daily basis, I received Google news alerts about the two new films based on Jesco’s life, “White Lightnin” and “Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.” ( Here is Film Threat magazine’s review of “Wild.)
