David Schau is one of West Virginia’s leading public librarians, working in the downtown branch of the Kanawha County Public Library. After years working in the largest public library system in the state for a number of years, he was recently reassigned to work as the West Virginia Librarian. He coordinates and organizes the wide variety of West Virginia materials.  He recommends films to be ordered for the West Virginia collection. The films are housed in the AV dept.

Schau is a native of Erie, Pa., and has traveled the world. For years he has lived down the street from me on Churchill Drive, next to Fort Hill. During the last two decades he has hosted foreign exchange students from around the world, traveling to their home countries many times. ( I wondered what he was doing when he wasn’t down on the reference desk downtown….) He also collects stamps and takes care of his cat and is an avid fantasy sports player, winning a number of national competitions.

If you have any questions about West Virginia  materials, contact Mr. Schau. He would love to hear from you.
