I've done 'Wine by Mood' tastings to over 5000 average consumers ...and they really are relieved and really appreciate it. The wine geeks freak of course! The bottom line is wine and food at the table connects us to what's important, and that's always the people at the table. Thanks for writing this. Rating beverages is obviously a subjective process, but I think we're all affected by external influences like where we drink, with whom we imbibe and the mood we are in. It's amazing what the "setting" can do. I tend to be a left-brain realist on a lot of things, but there's no arguing that presentation and atmosphere are important ingredients in our food and drink.
