Gov. Joe Manchin has scheduled an 11 a.m. media-availability event Wednesday morning at the Capitol to answer questions about the process for filling Sen. Robert C. Byrd’s seat.
A press advisory says Manchin won’t announce an appointment, but “plans to discuss the process and answer questions related to the matter.”
Here’s the full advisory, issued around 6:30 p.m. tonight:
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Following the state memorial service last week and the funeral today, Gov. Joe Manchin believes that now is the appropriate time to shift focus toward the succession process in order to fill the vacancy left by the passing of our beloved U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd.
Due to several media inquiries, Manchin will participate in a 11 a.m. media availability to discuss the succession process for the filling this seat. The governor will not make an appointment during this media availability; however, he plans to discuss the process and answer questions related to the matter.
