Legislators may be taking note of the controversy over former Manchin chief of staff Larry Puccio becoming a lobbyist this session for the Charles Town Racetrack and Casino and other entities.
In its first act of the 2010 regular session, the House Judiciary Committee Thursday afternoon unanimously advanced a bill (HB4016) toughening requirements for the financial disclosures that public officials must file annually with the state Ethics Commission.
Before they advanced it, however, the committee unanimously approved an amendment offered by Delegate John Ellem, R-Wood, and others, to prohibit former legislators and executive branch officials and staffers from lobbying for one year after leaving public office.
House Judiciary Chairman Tim Miley, D-Harrison, said he’s confident the bill will pass the House (It should be up for a passage vote on Wednesday), but would not hazard a guess on its chances in the Senate.

Just goes to show how corrupt the Manchin administration is. He proposes to have all state vehicles under one section–does this mean he has another relative who needs a job? Cut spending by 3.4%–how about saving taxpayer money by not installing the fence, etc. at the mansion?
