Don't listen to those malcontent freaks bashing FestivALL! And don't give them the dignity of labeling the event with one of their epitaphs. FestivALL is a great thing for the city. I remember how big Regatta became before small minds and incompetence shut it down. It brought tens of millions of dollars into the area. I used to bartend in those days and the money flowed through the streets like a big green flood of lettuce. It was on the verge of becoming the biggest street fair in the country after Mardis Gras. Then the christian idiots got together and put the kabosh on beer sales and that was the end of that. Too bad and so stupid for a depressed state like this.

FestivALL has a lot of potential. It might not be for everybody but it has a lot of appeal and it's original and imaginative. Also, many people work very hard. I too am more of a front porch beer person but I recognize the potential and the good of FestivALL.

Go FestivALL!

[...] See this recent post about the short theater offering, “The Crossing,” which will be staged several times Saturday inside the Triana Building walkway. The shows are part of the Charleston Stage Company’s 10-minute “Location Play” stagings at FestivALL Charleston. Then, on Saturday June 26, head to Haddad Riverfront Park and board the River Queen sternwheeler for the 10-minute play “Deep Issues” by Colleen Anderson and Michael Davis. Also being staged is “Lady Fortune and Her Sternwheel” by Derek H. Samms. The first line of dialogue for these two winners of this year’s Location Play contest had to be: “This is where it gets deep.” We e-mailed a few questions about “Deep Issues” to co-writer Colleen Anderson.
