More on Blair Mountain
I wanted to pass on to Coal Tattoo readers the actual documents listing Blair Mountain on the National Register of Historic Places. I’ve posted the approval documents, signed Monday, here.
I’m looking into some questions about the particulars of how this does — and doesn’t — impact proposed mountaintop removal operations in the area … so stay tuned.

I was concerned when I read the quote from Susan Pierce, Director of the State Historical Preservation Office, who said something to the effect that this is largely a symbolic designation.
